26.1 The Theory of Films The director I have chosen to write about is Tim Burton, and I will write about how he links to the auteur theory. Tim Burton is well known for using the same actors in many of his films, his main actor being Johnny Depp. Johnny Depp is well known for playing Willy Wonka in Tim Burton’s remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, as well as starring in Edward Scissorhands. He has also starred in A Nightmare Before Christmas, The Corpse Bride, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Alice in Wonderland, Alice Through the Looking Glass, Sleepy Hollow and Dark Shadows. All of these films were directed by Tim Burton. Johnny Depp has always played a main role in Tim Burton’s films. Tim Burton also used Alan Rickman in a lot of his films, and also uses Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton. These three actors would also usually play a main role in films directed by Tim Burton. For example, Michael Keaton played the role of Batman in
What I have learned so far this year So far this year I have learned that there 10 different sectors of media, which are: Film/Radio/Magazine (Publication)/Marketing & Advertising/Video Games/TV/Animation/Interactive/Photo Imaging/Press. In media production, the 3 key stages are pre-production, production, and post production. I also learned that characteristics are features that are easily recognised by an audience. I also learned that the word genre is French for type. Within films & genres, there are also sub genres (a smaller, unofficial genre) and cross-over genres/hybrid genres (where elements from two or more genres feature in a media text). One example of a sub-genre is action-comedy and one example of a cross genre is a horror/comedy. However genres are always subject to change, as audiences have expectations of specific genres, but are willing to accept innovation. Responses from media texts will show whether the text has been accepted or rejected. You can al

Regulatory Bodies

What are Regulatory Bodies? A regulatory body(also known as Regulatory Agency) is a public authority/government agency that is responsible for controlling some areas of human activities. so essentially managing the things some people do. Regulatory bodies are mainly set up to enforce health and safety standards, and to protect consumers within the market. Regulatory Bodies include charities, education boards, law companies and environmental companies. Some examples are: Ofsted (Educational) Charity Commission for England and Wales (Charity) Northern Ireland Environment Agency (environmental) Financial Conduct Agency (Financial) NHS Improvement (Healthcare) Faculty of Advocates (Law)
Film Analysis Hacksaw Ridge Hacksaw Ridge is based in 1940's America/Japan, so the set is very well designed to make it seem natural and believable. One of my favourite things about the film is that the main character, who is a conscientious objector, sticks to hie beliefs throughout the film, despite the problems that it causes for him. I think this adds a major effect on the film as the audience would be in suspense a lot of the time because they will never know what is going to happen next. What also creates more effect is that the film is mostly based on a true story (apart from a few edits). During the film, the main character goes through the whole battle as a medic without firing a shot.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) is an adventure/fantasy film which was directed by Tim Burton. The film is an adaptation of the book by Roald Dahl. The film follows a boy called Charlie bucket and his Grandpa Joe, as they join a small group of contest winners who win a tour of the strange and magical factory of famous candy maker Willy Wonka. With the help of his Oompa Loompas, Willy Wonka had a secret prize that one of the contest winners could win. I enjoyed watching the film, however did not really engage with the film. I found the film a little boring. I think the target audience for the film would be a younger age, for example families, maybe with children aged 7 - 15 years old. There is a lot of things that feature in the film, that would help the audience enjoy the film more (audience gratification). For example, as the film is targeted at families with younger children, the children would be able to relate to the idea of candy. The Green Mile (1999) is a fantas
