Hacksaw Ridge
Hacksaw Ridge is based in 1940's America/Japan, so the set is very well designed to make it seem natural and believable. One of my favourite things about the film is that the main character, who is a conscientious objector, sticks to hie beliefs throughout the film, despite the problems that it causes for him. I think this adds a major effect on the film as the audience would be in suspense a lot of the time because they will never know what is going to happen next. What also creates more effect is that the film is mostly based on a true story (apart from a few edits). During the film, the main character goes through the whole battle as a medic without firing a shot.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) is an adventure/fantasy film which was directed by Tim Burton. The film is an adaptation of the book by Roald Dahl. The film follows a boy called Charlie bucket and his Grandpa Joe, as they join a small group of contest winners who win a tour of the strange and magical factory of famous candy maker Willy Wonka. With the help of his Oompa Loompas, Willy Wonka had a secret prize that one of the contest winners could win. I enjoyed watching the film, however did not really engage with the film. 26.1 The Theory of Films The director I have chosen to write about is Tim Burton, and I will write about how he links to the auteur theory. Tim Burton is well known for using the same actors in many of his films, his main actor being Johnny Depp. Johnny Depp is well known for playing Willy Wonka in Tim Burton’s remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, as well as starring in Edward Scissorhands. He has also starred in A Nightmare Before Christmas, The Corpse Bride, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Alice in Wonderland, Alice Through the Looking Glass, Sleepy Hollow and Dark Shadows. All of these films were directed by Tim Burton. Johnny Depp has always played a main role in Tim Burton’s films.
