What I have learned so far this year So far this year I have learned that there 10 different sectors of media, which are: Film/Radio/Magazine (Publication)/Marketing & Advertising/Video Games/TV/Animation/Interactive/Photo Imaging/Press. In media production, the 3 key stages are pre-production, production, and post production. I also learned that characteristics are features that are easily recognised by an audience. I also learned that the word genre is French for type. Within films & genres, there are also sub genres (a smaller, unofficial genre) and cross-over genres/hybrid genres (where elements from two or more genres feature in a media text). Film Analysis Hacksaw Ridge Hacksaw Ridge is based in 1940's America/Japan, so the set is very well designed to make it seem natural and believable. One of my favourite things about the film is that the main character, who is a conscientious objector, sticks to hie beliefs throughout the film, despite the problems that it causes for him. I think this adds a major effect on the film as the audience would be in suspense a lot of the time because they will never know what is going to happen next. What also creates more effect is that the film is mostly based on a true story (apart from a few edits). During the film, the main character goes through the whole battle as a medic without firing a shot.
